Costs and limits to account for

Tiers 1 and 2 exclude monetized, business and client use.
The lifetime licence covers Studio 2.x; Pro features are not an included lifetime upgrade.
Devices are not users; hardware and voice quality need evaluation before a deadline.
The current FAQ limits offline production to one day after licence validation.

Choose by commercial rights before counting devices

Tier 1 costs $59 for 1 personal device and no cloned voices. Tier 2 costs $119 for 2 devices and 5 cloned voices. Both are restricted to personal, non-commercial projects.

Tier 3 costs $239 and includes 5 devices, 15 cloned voices and commercial permission. The founder includes monetized videos, sponsorships, business promotion, client work and sold audio in commercial use. Turning off YouTube ads does not make a client project personal.

The devices belong to one licensed person. A five-device allowance is not a five-person team licence. If staff need to operate the software independently, obtain separate licences or an explicit team arrangement.

The highest AppSumo tier still does not include Pro

The October founder answer distinguishes Subscriber features from the optional Pro subscription. Craft, Omni and Voice Design are excluded from all AppSumo tiers. Paying for Tier 3 adds commercial rights and capacity; it does not unlock those Pro engines for life.

The same answer says Tier 1 includes Sonic, Fast, Expressive and Multilingual. If an included engine appears locked, resolve the licence problem with support rather than assuming another subscription is necessary. Engine names and counts have evolved, so match the specific engine to the entitlement instead of buying from a broad voice-count claim.

The partner terms define lifetime as the Studio 2.x product line. Future major-version access is not established by that wording. Keep this scope separate from the promise of updates within the purchased line.

Full CLI access starts at Tier 2, but the founder says it controls the running desktop app. It is not a standalone Linux or headless-server installation. An automation plan must still account for the supported desktop and licence checks.

Use your actual computer to judge the local trade-off

The listing supports Apple Silicon Macs and Windows 10/11 x64, not Intel Macs. It recommends 16 GB RAM and 20 GB storage. That is a compatibility starting point, not a promise of fast generation for every engine or long manuscript.

The public free option is useful for a short non-commercial sample before a purchase. Try the language, names, accents and chapter length you actually need.

Local generation has no monthly character-credit pool. Hardware upgrades, storage, electricity and time spent fixing pronunciation remain real costs, even though they are not charges from a credit counter.

Local does not mean permanently offline. The current AppSumo FAQ says production can continue offline for up to one day after successful licence validation. If you work without internet for several days, that restriction matters more than the absence of a character meter.

An export preset does not approve an audiobook or cloned voice

Mastering presets can target technical loudness requirements. They do not guarantee that a distributor accepts AI narration, that a channel will monetize a video, or that the speech sounds natural. Review the destination’s current rules separately.

Voice cloning requires permission from the speaker; a recording you can download is not automatically licensed for cloning. The commercial software tier does not provide rights to third-party scripts, music or voice performances.

Compare local narration with the job you actually need

Vois is worth comparing with Unmixr AI or Voicina when voice generation is the job. The important difference is local hardware and licence restrictions versus a hosted service’s character, minute or credit allowances. A translated-video workflow needs a separate dubbing comparison; multilingual narration alone is not proof of video dubbing.

AudioHero supplies soundtracks and effects, so it complements rather than replaces Vois. For a personal project with occasional exports, the Vois free option may be enough; purchasing export credits does not add commercial rights. No like-for-like subscription saving is claimed because the partner tiers and standard subscriptions have different permissions and features.
