Website budget: first-year costs, renewals and a launch checklist

A website budget should show what you pay now and what keeps the site running later. Use a two-year worksheet before buying an introductory hosting bundle.

Separate the introductory offer from the running cost

A website budget needs two answers: how much cash is required to launch, and how much it takes to keep the site operating after the introductory term. A low monthly equivalent answers neither unless you know the upfront payment, included period and renewal terms.

The Hostinger AppSumo Bundle is a useful example because it appears alongside lifetime deals while purchasing one year of service. Its recorded first-year price is $44. That is not a verified renewal price and cannot be used as a lifetime hosting cost.

This worksheet is for a small website owner comparing an introductory offer with actual needs. It does not recommend moving an existing site merely to obtain a discount. Eligibility, application compatibility, the work involved in moving and the following renewal all affect whether the purchase makes sense.

Build a budget with separate renewal dates

List each service independently, even if the checkout groups several together. A domain, mailbox and hosting plan can have different terms or renewal dates. Record the exact currency and whether tax is included so the rows can be compared meaningfully.

Website softwareRequired paid theme, plugin or applicationRenewals needed for support or features

Do not give every row a price if you have not obtained one. “Unknown renewal” is useful information: it shows why the lifetime-cost calculation is incomplete. A blank extra-service row means not yet assessed, rather than automatically included.

Calculate two years of costs without assuming the renewal price

Here is a deliberately hypothetical example. Imagine hosting costs $60 for year one and $120 for year two, a domain is included initially and renews at $20, and an optional service costs $5 a month throughout. Year-one cash cost is $120: $60 hosting plus $60 for the optional service. Year two costs $200: $120 hosting, $20 domain and $60 optional service. The two-year total is $320 before tax or maintenance work.

Those numbers are a worksheet demonstration, not Hostinger prices. For the actual bundle, replace the first-year hosting line with $44 and enter the verified renewal quote when you have it. Do not multiply its first-year price by two and call that a two-year total.

If you are comparing an existing plan, include only costs that change. A domain renewal you would pay either way is not a special saving from switching hosts. Add migration or setup expenses to the new option, and keep any overlap period where both services remain active in the calculation.

Check that the application fits before purchasing

Write down how the website runs, which database or background tasks it needs and how you will restore it. Ask the vendor to confirm the exact plan supports those requirements. A listed number of websites does not establish support for every application runtime, deployment method or scheduled task.

The recorded bundle lists unlimited websites with 50 GB of shared storage. Site count and resource capacity are separate. As an illustrative storage exercise, six sites estimated at 4 GB each use 24 GB before any other stored material or growth. That is arithmetic, not a performance estimate or confirmation that six particular applications will run well.

Daily backups are listed in the offer. Identify what is backed up, retention, how to request a restore and what export you can keep independently. A backup feature name is not evidence that your exact site can be recovered within a particular time.

Resolve eligibility and redemption before paying

The published bundle terms restrict it to eligible new Hostinger users, one per person, and do not let an existing buyer extend a current bundle. The AppSumo offer is recorded as non-refundable and requires redemption within its stated window. Those conditions matter before experimenting with a purchase that may not fit.

The listing’s payment-card wording was inconsistent in the research, and a dependable renewal quote was not established. Treat those as questions to resolve for the exact offer; do not infer the answer from another Hostinger promotion. An existing Hostinger customer should not assume a new website makes them a new eligible customer.

Use a launch checklist that includes the next bill

Before moving important work, verify one representative page, your contact or order flow, the intended application behavior and the way a backup is restored. If a form uses an outside email service, include its account and usage requirement in the budget. A page opening successfully is not proof that all business functions work.

  • Record the hosting, domain and email expiry or renewal dates separately.
  • Keep the exact offer terms and account ownership information in your own records.
  • Confirm the person responsible for routine updates and a failed-payment notice.
  • Set aside money for the verified renewal rather than hoping for another introductory deal.
  • Keep a usable content and media export, and understand what else is needed to rebuild the application.
  • Review the plan before the renewal date with enough time to make a considered decision.

Use the web hosting buying hub when comparing the requirements behind the price. Buy the introductory bundle only if eligibility, runtime, first-year needs and renewal expectations all fit. The right outcome may be staying on an existing plan.
